Sugo Cork handwoven rugs are a bold and innovative design dovetailing cork with cotton, linen and wool, which where possible is sourced from domestic suppliers regenerated and recovered materials from certified domestic suppliers with minimal environmental impact.

The rugs are beautiful as a loose fitting carpet, superb as a wall hanging, and a stunning addition to a terrace. Rugs can be ordered as standard designs and sizes, or to bespoke requirements, subject to the perimeters of loom and woven techniques.

The rugs are developed in partnership with Amorim Cork Ventures, part of Corticeira Amorim, a world leader in the cork industry. Cork is the bark of the cork oak (Quercus Suber L.).  Grown extensively across Portugal, the country produces some 80% of the world’s supply. Harvested every 9 years, a cork tree will live for 150 years. No cork trees are felled in the process. Axes are used to strip the cork bark from its tree. A method of cork harvesting dating back generations, and an important backbone to the rural economy.
