
Cristina Isabel D’Cotta Carreras Claridge
London-based Craft Design Construction Ltd. was founded in 2012 by the late Cristina Isabel D’Cotta Carreras Claridge, Architect, who trained under Pritzker Prize winning architects Álvaro Siza Vieira and Eduardo Souto de Moura at Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade do Porto (FAUP).
Cristina was born in Lisbon and latterly had worked in Porto, New York and Madrid before relocating to London in 2011.
Often abbreviated to CDC, the company’s initials are derived from Cristina’s name, and the company name encompassing the work that define the craft, design and construction materials that connected Cristina to her native Portugal. A country with a wealth of talent which inspired Cristina; a place she held with high regard, the people she deeply respected.
An earlier diagnosis of Metastatic breast cancer some years previously aggressively returned leading to a devastating turn of events, and on April 23rd 2014, Cristina, who had courageously fought cancer with extreme dignity and willpower peacefully passed away.
In legacy to Cristina’s work, vision and dedication Craft Design Construction is continued under the directorship of her husband, Richard, also an architect.
Craft Design Construction Ltd works directly with Portuguese manufacturers, artisans, craftsmen and designers including Siza’s & Souto de Moura’s cabinet maker and lighting manufacturer.
Other items include toys and children’s products, ceramics, cork objects and products. Materials including hydraulic encaustic cement tiles; cork flooring, textiles & Viroc Cement Bonded Particle Board.
